Angus College student’s polo success

Angus College student Gemma Waters is celebrating after coming second in a prestigious national polo competition in England. For the past three months, Gemma, and three fellow Animal Care students have been taking lessons from Scotland’s top Polo Coach, Thom Bell in Kinross. After developing their polo skills, two of the girls, Gemma and Sophie travelled to Rugby to take part in the Schools and Universities Polo Association Nationals Arena Tournament. Over one hundred teams from universities and colleges around Britain competed and although Sophie was too ill to ride, Gemma found two more riders and made up an “Angus College” team.

Gemma says “it was so sad that Sophie felt too ill to compete, but I’m glad I carried on. Coming second in the Lower SAPA division was just such a great experience.” Gemma says the original four girls are now practising hard ready for the next opportunity to represent the College in the saddle.
