HNC Social Care

Course Group: 
Care & First Aid

(Only suitable for those already employed in a Social Care setting).  This course is aimed at those working in the Social Care area, directly supporting adults, older people, children and young people whose employer would be prepared to work in partnership.

Course Content: 

Areas of study will include:
Social Care Theory, Social Policy, Sociology, Psychology, Protection from Harm and Abuse and other units.
Part time is a blend of study online and College attendance over 2 years. SVQ’s are undertaken in the care setting.
 

Distance Learning: Individual units are available to study. This is a blend of online learning and summative essays. Units currently available are:

• Working in Partnership with People who have a Learning Disability
• Understanding Loss and the Process of Grief
• Understanding Dementia
• Stress Management

Target Group: 

(Only suitable for those already employed in a Social Care setting).

Duration: 

This course is studied over 2 years.

Certification: 

On successful completion of the course students will gain the HNC Social Care qualification.

A change could involve the replacement of a course with a new course, variations to course content or structure, the merger of courses, or the withdrawal of a course. The College may make a change to a course for the reasons set out above, or for other reasons where it is reasonable for the College to do so. If there is a change to a course about which you have expressed an interest, the College will let you know as soon as possible.

By expressing an interest about a course to the College, you agree to these rules about changes to courses.
