Who is this course aimed at?
Undoubtedly one of the most popular courses at Angus College. This course has an excellent success rate of students finding employment or progressing to study at SVQ Level 3.
What entry requirements will I need?
This course is based at Intermediate 2 and Higher standard. All applicants will be asked to attend a group selection event where you will be required to successfully pass two short assessments. This is a very popular course, and to be considered, applicants must demonstrate a real desire to succeed, good personal presentation and communication skills are also essential. School Leavers should be able to achieve Standard Grades at levels 1, 2 or 3. Adult Returners must demonstrate the potential to work at a similar level. English and a science subject would be helpful. good communication skills, commitment to study independently, willingness to practice to ensure achievement, good level of personal presentation, demonstration of good client care skills reliability and commitment.

What will I study on this course?
The course provides opportunity to practice skills in all aspects of the craft while encourage creative ideas for a career as a junior stylist. It includes basic aspects of hairdressing beginning with: Year 1: Shampooing, hair, scalp and client analysis, setting, blow drying, long hair and cutting Year 2: hair colouring, combination hair cutting, colour correction, long hair design, work experience, and expression session You will have a work experience placement in a salon as part of your course, visit hair exhibitions gaining important industrial and product knowledge and have the chance to observe demonstrations by highly trained, experienced stylists. In addition, the College will provide you with opportunities to enter national competitions where previous Angus College hairdressing students have done very well.
