HND Animal Care Year 2 - Full Time

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is aimed at those who wish to enter an animal care employment area at an advanced level. Many previous students have chosen to progress to degree study and have entered higher education on year 2 or year 3 of specific programmes.

What entry requirements will I need?

Successful completion of HNC Animal Care at Angus or from other Scottish colleges with a comparable programme. Acceptance will be based on your performance on the HNC/HND Year 1 programme. Attitude to your studies will be a key factor, including quality of work, assessment performance and submission of all work by agreed deadlines.

How and where will I study?

The course will be mainly college-based. Infill onto individual subjects is also available with the course currently delivered over two 18 week blocks.

What will I study on this course?

In addition to studying the key Animal Care elements such as Avian Care, Reptiles and Amphibians, behaviour and Drugs and Medicines at a higher level, the course will give the necessary supervisory, management and business skills to prepare you for the level of work appropriate to this qualification.

Job and progression routes?

Self-employment, animal care technicians, management positions in veterinary practices. Degree programmes at university e.g. students have progressed to veterinary nursing, animal care and welfare or zoology or the sciences. Interested students should check the entrance requirements of individual universities.
