Who is this course aimed at?

This course is aimed at people who have successfully completed the HNC/HND Y1 programme and who wish to further develop their knowledge and understanding of coaching.

What entry requirements will I need?

Successful completion of HNC/HND YR1 Sports Coaching & Development (15 credits) and have the commitment to succeed. Entry will be subject to a Disclosure Scotland check.

How and where will I study?

Study will take place in our purpose-built Angus College Sports and Fitness Centre in Arbroath.

What will I study on this course?

The course provides students with the opportunity to study areas such as improving coaching in sport, sports mechanics, fitness conditioning, psychology of sports performance, nutrition for sports performance and assisting sports for disability. An integral part of the course will focus on students developing and refining their coaching abilities. Throughout the course there will be opportunities to gain additional qualifications such as National Governing Body and Sports Coach UK awards, SVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor, NPLQ, SVQ Level 3 Personal Training and First Aid.

Job and progression routes?

The developed coaching skills and experience gained from this programme will provide you with genuine employment opportunities within private and/or public sports centres as sports coaches, sports development officers, fitness instructors and personal trainers. Degree programme at university – formal articulation links are in place with Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and The University of

Abertay, Dundee. Other students have progressed onto degree programmes at the University of Stirling and Edinburgh Napier University.
