Introduction To Engineering - Full Time

Who is this course aimed at?

If you are a school leaver thinking about a future in engineering, but not sure which area is best for you, then this is the course for you. To help you make the correct decision, Introduction to Engineering is a first level course which gives you the chance to try out all the different areas before making that important career choice.

What entry requirements will I need?

To gain a place on this programme you must be 16 years of age or be under a School Link programme. Entry is subject to a selection process which consists of an interview and an exercise which demonstrates both your written and practical skills. Qualifications in Standard Grade Maths, Science or equivalent preferred with consideration also given on an individual basis to those with relevant experience. At interview you must demonstrate a keen interest in the engineering industry and the necessary will to succeed.

How and where will I study?

The Engineering Department at the main Arbroath campus.

What will I study on this course?

Here you will be able to try motor vehicle, welding, mechanical and electrical engineering. In addition to the practical work you will also learn the supporting knowledge and life skills necessary to progress in a career in engineering.

Job and progression routes?

Further vocational qualifications at a higher level may be possible by progression to specific pre-apprentice engineering programmes in a variety of engineering disciplines. Progression to other engineering courses at Angus College.
