Introduction To Sport - Full Time

Who is this course aimed at?

This is a highly enjoyable and practical course for ythose of you wishing to take your first step into the exciting world of sport and fitness. If you want to participate in a range of sports, increase your fitness level and gain an insight into the sports industry, then this course is ideal for you. A reasonable standard of educational achievement is desired, you must be at least 16 years of age or a School Link and must have the will to improve your understanding and ability across all the activities on the course.

What entry requirements will I need?

At interview stage 1 you must demonstrate that you fit the programme criteria (Standard Grades or equivalent). Successful applicants will then be invited to a stage 2 interview to demonstrate their sporting aptitude in a variety of sports activities. The offer of a full-time, unconditional place will be dependant on successful completion of the stage 2 interview.

How and where will I study?

Study will take place in our purpose-built Angus College Sports and Fitness Centre in Arbroath.

What will I study on this course?

This programme of SQA NQ Units covers ball games, racket sports and a variety of outdoor pursuits. Activities include – basketball, volleyball, badminton, athletics, football, gorge walking, mountain biking, skiing and swimming. The programme also develops core skills such as communication, numeracy and IT, working with others, problem solving, CV training, resistance training, citizenship and employability.

Job and progression routes?

Successful completion of this course could lead to NC Sport. Successful completion may lead to employment in the sport and fitness industry.
