Who is this course aimed at?

The whole area of sport and fitness is growing with many private facilities opening and greater use of

all public facilities. If you have a good standard grade PE result or have relevant experience and are a competent sportsperson this course is ideal for you. Over the year you will see your fitness level increase significantly with additional knowledge gained in a wide and varied range of sports activities.

What entry requirements will I need?

At interview stage 1 you must demonstrate that you fit the programme criteria (Standard Grades or

equivalent). Successful applicants will then be invited to a stage 2 interview to demonstrate their sporting aptitude in a variety of sports activities. The offer of a full-time, unconditional place will be dependant on successful completion of the stage 2 interview.

How and where will I study?

Study will take place in our purpose-built Angus College Sports and Fitness Centre in Arbroath.

What will I study on this course?

This programme of SQA NQ units and governing body awards relating to ball games, racket sports, fitness development and a variety of outdoor pursuits. Activities include – badminton, athletics, coasteering, swimming, hillwalking and resistance training. The programme also develops core skills

such as communication, numeracy, IT, working with others, problem solving, citizenship and employability. Students have the opportunity to gain the following awards: NPLQ, First Aid Certificate and SCUK/NGB Awards, SVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor.

Job and progression routes?

Successful completion of this course could lead to HNC Sports Coaching & Development or Skillseekers programme. Successful completion may lead to employment in the sport and fitness industry.
