Certificate In Health & Social Care At Intermediate 2 Level - Full Time
Who is this course aimed at?
An excellent course covering a range of health and social care subjects. This course is ideal for those who may be returning to education or are unsure of the care specialism they wish to pursue i.e. health or social care or who have successfully achieved Certificate in Health & Social Care at Intermediate 1 level.
What entry requirements will I need?
Entry is subject to a selection process which consists of an interview, one satisfactory reference and a demonstration of written communication skills. Successful candidates will be required to be a member of the PVG Scheme prior to placement.
How and where will I study?
You will study for 15 hours per week. Study will take place at the main College campus in Arbroath.
What will I study on this course?
During the course you will gain an understanding of health and social care which may be further enhanced by a care placement within a local care environment. The placement opportunity is for approximately 1 day a week for 24 weeks. This exciting and challenging course features continuous assessment throughout. Subjects covered are Psychology for Care, Mental Health – An Introduction, values and Principles in Care, HIV Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, First Aid and Prevention of Infection & Safety in a Care Setting and Core Skills (communication, numeracy and IT).
Job and progression routes?
Health/SocialCare Assistant, Home Carer. Subject to interview and references – progression to the certificate in Health Care at Higher level or Certificate in Social Care at Higher level.
