Who is this course aimed at?
This course sets down the foundations for people wishing to gain knowledge and understanding for either a career in a care setting or to further their studies in childcare, health care or social care.
What entry requirements will I need?
Entry is subject to a selection process which consists of an interview, one satisfactory reference and a demonstration of written communication skills. All successful candidates will be required to be a member of the PVG Scheme prior to placement.
How and where will I study?
Through academic study in the classroom you will have the opportunity to learn about various areas of care related issues. This highly successful course is offered in our Learning Centre in Montrose and runs mornings only. There may be the opportunity for a practical placement in a care setting.
What will I study on this course?
During the course you will gain an understanding of health and social care and childcare which may be further enhanced by a care placement within a local care environment. This exciting and challenging course features continuous assessment throughout. Subjects covered are Sociology and Psychology for Care, Mental Health – An Introduction, Child Care, Values and Principles in Care, HIV, Hepatitis B: An Introduction and Health Eating in a Care Setting.
Job and progression routes?
Nursery Assistant, Health Care Assistant, Home Carer, Social Care Assistant. Possible progression to the Certificate in Health Care at Higher Level or the Certificate in Social Care at Higher Level or National Certificate Early Education & Childcare at Higher Level.
