Certificate In Health Care At Higher Level - Full Time
Who is this course aimed at?
This course will extend and develop your knowledge gained on the Certificate in Health & Social Care at Int 2 programme. It is also suitable for learners who can demonstrate the ability to produce academic work to Higher level. This course is useful preparation for learners who wish to undertake HNC Health Care or progress onto nurse education programmes.
What entry requirements will I need?
Successful completion of the Certificate in Health & Social Care at Int 2 and/or entry is subject to a selection process which consists of an interview, one satisfactory reference and a demonstration of written communication skills. All successful candidates will be required to be a member of the PVG Scheme prior to placement. School Leavers should have Standard Grades at 1, 2 or 3 level. Adult Returners should be able to demonstrate the potential to work at Higher level.
How and where will I study?
Full-time or part-time study at College with e-learning opportunities.
What will I study on this course?
This course covers a variety of Higher level subjects which are relevant to careers in health care. Students gain work experience with placements within NHS Tayside and other local care providers. Students will learn about a variety of subjects such as First Aid, Biology, Care Values, Psychology, Sociology and Working in Health & Social Care.
Job and progression routes?
HNC Health Care or onto degree programmes in nursing at Dundee University, The University of Abertay, Dundee or Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Students may also seek employment within health care in support worker roles or with the ambulance service.
