Angus College

Fee Information

Most students studying part-time and distance learning courses will have to pay tuition fees. With this in mind the College has dedicated Student Funding staff that can guide you through the various options available to you and help you make the right decision.  This short guide may also help you decide which payment option would be most suitable to you.

Fee Waiver (not applicable for Commercial courses)

If you are in receipt of certain means tested benefits, certain disability benefits or you fall within the ‘low income’ threshold you may be eligible for free tuition.  If you would like to apply for this type of funding we will require you to complete a fee waiver application and provide proof of benefit.  Applications can be obtained from the Central Admissions or Student Funding Teams and will be issued upon acceptance onto your course.  No deposit will be required if you choose this option.

Individual Learning Account (ILA) Scotland £200

If you earn less than £22,000 per year, are aged 16 or over and are a resident in Scotland then you may qualify for £200 funding each year from ILA Scotland. ILA Scotland £200 funding can be used towards the cost of many part-time courses but you must have you account activated by ILA Scotland before the start date of your selected course otherwise you will be unable to use this type of funding.  Should there be insufficient funds in your ILA Scotland account to cover the full cost of the course then you must arrange to pay the outstanding balance at the time of booking.  The ILA Scotland funding scheme will not cover the cost of books or other materials unless specifically included within the course fee.

Once you have provided us with your ILA Scotland account number and the booking has been processed you will receive a Learning Token from ILA Scotland.  This must be forwarded to us at Central Admissions, Angus College, Keptie Road, Arbroath, DD11 3EA. If you do not receive your Learning Token before the start date of your course please contact ILA Scotland on 0808 1001090.  If we do not receive your Learning Token before the expiry date we will have no alternative than to invoice you for the full cost of the course.

Applications for funding can be obtained from ILA Scotland by calling free on 0808 1001090 or you can visit their website at www.ilascotland.org.uk

If you have any queries regarding ILA Scotland funding then please call our Central Admissions Team on 01241 432722.

Part-Time Fee Grant (formerly known as ILA500)

If you earn less than £22,000 per year, are aged 16 or over or have reached compulsory school leaving age and are a resident in Scotland then you may qualify for £500 funding each year from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS).  This funding can be used towards the cost of selected part-time Higher National qualifications as well as Professional qualifications at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) levels 7 – 10.

Students must be studying 40 SCQF credits or more in any academic year and would be liable to pay the balance if the cost of the course is more than £500.  If SAAS find you are eligible for this type of funding they will send you an Award Notice which should be forwarded to us at Central Admissions, Angus College, Keptie Road, Arbroath, DD11 3EA.

Applications for funding can be obtained from SAAS at www.saas.gov.uk  You should have your funding in place before the start date of course otherwise you may be unable to use this type of funding.

If you have any queries regarding this type of funding then please call our Central Admissions Team on 01241 432600.

Sponsor Funding

Where an employer or sponsor has agreed to pay for all or part of the cost of a course we will require a confirmation letter on headed paper along with any additional monies required towards the cost of your course.  A deposit of £30 will be applicable

Self Funding

If you are not eligible for funding and would like to pay the cost of a course yourself we will require full payment before or on your enrolment day. Students who are paying fees themselves may be offered an installment option which must be in place before the start date of the course and can be arranged by our Finance Team.  A deposit of £30 will be applicable.

Any payments can be made by credit/debit card, cheque or by cash. Installments are non-refundable unless you leave your course due to medical reasons.
