Funding your Course

The information included in this section is intended as a guide only and you should always remember that everyone's circumstances are different, therefore we advise that you contact our Student Funding Advisers on 01241 432624 for more detailed information.

National Certificate Programmes

Educational Maintenance Allowances

This is a new funding arrangement for students studying at National Certificate level. At the moment, only students aged 16 years are eligible to apply. For further information, please contact the Student Funding Team on 01241 432624.

If you undertake a full-time National Certificate course, you may be eligible for a bursary to help you finance your study. The bursary may consist of a maintenance award, course expenses and travel costs (if applicable). Most individuals may receive a bursary for a full-time National Certificate course provided they meet the residency requirements. Once you have been accepted on to a full-time National Certificate programme, all the necessary Bursary application documents will be sent to you. We strongly advise that these are returned to the College at the earliest opportunity to ensure there is no hold up in the processing of your application prior to the start of the course.

Higher National Programmes

Scotland now has a funding system separate from other parts of the United Kingdom. Students who are normally resident in Scotland, undertaking Higher National Certificate or Diploma courses at Scottish institutions, will not have to pay tuition fees. However, those students who have previously received funding will not be funded again unless they are progressing to a higher level course.

Students on HNC or HND programmes are entitled to apply for a Student Loan and a Grant (non-repayable) to help support your dependants through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). The amount you receive is based on your personal circumstances. Application forms are available for the College or the Agency and must be returned asap.

Applications need to be made to the:

South Gyle
