Course Guidance
It is important that you choose the right course as it will impact on the career options open to you at a later stage. With so many subject choices and different attendance options, getting some impartial advice at an early stage is often worthwhile. Our student advisers are trained to help you make that right choice and will take into account your personal circumstances as well as career ambitions. You can drop in to the Isla Building to talk with them or call them directly on 01241 432604.
Student Support
Student Services can support students who may be in danger of withdrawing from their course or putting it at risk, through disability or social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Both practical and emotional support is at hand for people who may have additional needs. Student Services are in the Advice Centre in the Isla Building of the College, on 01241 432604.
Personal Support
It is recognised that some students will experience personal difficulties during their time at College. A confidential service is available within Student Services where trained and experienced staff can offer you advice and support. Where appropriate, you may be referred to an external agency for their support.
Study Skills Support Services
Throughout your course, you may find that there are small gaps in your education in areas such as English or Arithmetic which can make assessments more challenging. If this is the case, or if you have a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, then there is specialist support available to you. All you need to do is contact Student Services who will arrange everything on your behalf.
Careers Information
The College has a Careers Service open to all students before, during and after their course. It aims to provide you with up-to-date information on potential career paths and Higher Education study opportunities; it provides databases covering career planning, and provides a job club where you can receive hands-on practical assistance with all sorts of career planning including CV writing.
Students with Disabilities
Angus College is fully committed to providing high quality provision and services for students with disabilities/additional support needs including mental health issues, sensory impairment, physical disabilities or general health issues. A system is in place to ensure that a student is given advice or support in relation to their specific needs. This may take the form of scribing, personal support, interpretation, specific technology etc. Students on HNC and HND courses may qualify for a Disabled Student Allowance from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland. For further information, or to discuss individual needs, contact Student Services on 01241 432604.
